It is a popular traditional craft with a history dating back to the Edo period and a history of over 360 years.
Its greatest appeal lies in the five colors of Kutani (red, yellow, green, purple, and indigo), known as the "Kutani Gosai," which are used for painting. The durable and beautiful tableware is highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
