170mm(width)×245mm(length)/English The 4 Hours of Monza, officially known as "Trofeo Mario Angiolini," was held on March 25, 1979.
It was a race held as part of the Italian national championship and European GT/touring car racing series.
The Trofeo Mario Angiolini: This name commemorates Mario Angiolini, the founder of the prestigious Italian racing team, Jolly Club. Jolly Club later achieved great success in the WRC (with cars like the Delta) as a semi-works team for Lancia, but even at this early stage, they had a deep connection with Lancia cars.
The car that attracted the most attention at this race was the Lancia Stratos.
While it's strongly associated with rallying, a turbocharged "Stratos Group 5 (Silhouette Formula)" version was also developed for endurance races like the Monza 4 Hours, and it enjoyed overwhelming popularity and performance in its home country of Italy.
This is a rare race pamphlet from a transitional period when Lancia was moving from the rally car "Stratos" to the circuit racing car "Beta Montecarlo Turbo," and then to the later king of rallying, the "Delta."
A valuable document from about half a century ago, perfect for your collection! |
