SIMCA stands for Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile, and began as a Fiat dealership in France.
The first FIAT 500, known as the Topolino, was produced under the name Simca 5 (Cinq) and became a huge success.
The 1100 debuted as the Simca 8 (Huit), and SIMCA became France's fourth-largest manufacturer.
