FIAT has long shared its history with Turin, the city of automobiles; indeed, FIAT has always been the backbone of the Italian automotive industry. Given its immense significance to the Italian economy, the company's centenary was celebrated as a nationwide event.
This commemorative medal was produced by FIAT itself to mark its 100th anniversary in 1999 and was presented to key figures with close ties to the company. The blue field, encircled by laurel leaves, represents the signature color of the FIAT brand, while the "old-style" logo—which was adopted as the company's new symbol in 1999—stands out prominently against it.
The center features a rich, deep blue finish. Please also note the reverse side of the medal: it bears the dates "1899–1999," marking the company's long journey, and features a relief of the signature of Giovanni Agnelli—the man who was instrumental in transforming FIAT into a major global force. Even back in 1999, this commemorative piece was already regarded as a rare and elusive collector's item. |
