132 pages/Japanese Pininfarina.
Pininfarina is a representative of the Italian Carrozzeria (design studio) that has left its mark forever in the history of automobiles. The aesthetic forms they created have led and greatly influenced the world of automotive design.
The Neo-Classic period from the late 70's to the 90's can be said to be the last golden age of their dazzling brilliance.
Their high level of skill was not only in the field of super sports cars and GTs such as the Ferrari BB, Testarossa, Lancia Beta Monte Carlo, Gamma Coupe, and Alfa Romeo Spyder, but also the Alfa Romeo 164, Peugeot 505, Rolls-Royce Camargue, and many others. They also worked on sedans and coupes as well as super sports cars.
At the same time, they were quick to recognize the importance of aerodynamics and were the first to build their own wind tunnel in 1972. Not only did they apply this technology to production cars, but they were also forward-thinking enough to get deeply involved in the development of racing cars. The Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Turbo Gr. 5, which defeated the evergreen Porsche 935 to regain the World Sports Car Championship title, is a prime example.
We also succeeded in interviewing directly the designers, directors, and general managers of the past, including Leonardo Fioravanti, Paolo Martin, Enrico Fumia, Diego Ottina, and Paolo Pininfarina, the third generation head of the company. They told us not only "back then" but also "behind the scenes" to the fullest.
Of course, there are also a number of innovative and beautiful show cars that project the bright future of automobiles.
The timeless beauty created by Pininfarina. We hope you will also be intoxicated by the timeless beauty created by Pininfarina. |
