248mm(width)×277mm(length) More than 30 years after its birth, the "exaggerated" Ferrari continues to impress and fascinate people.
The Ferrari F40, which saw the light of day in 1987, caused more than a sensation with its "voluptuous" lines, powerful mechanics that promised unprecedented performance "almost out of sight," and the charm it exuded from every angle. From the 250 LM of 1963 308 "Millechiodi" of 1977, the 288 GTO of 1984, and the GTO Evoluzione of 1986, Gaetano DeRosa's monograph analyzes the F40's "ancestors" and starts far from home, making the book's protagonist.
The technical and stylistic evolution of the F40 is traced to Leonardo Fioravanti, who was both designer and vice president of Maranello, to Nicola Materazzi, who defined the "monstrous" eight-cylinder that powered the car, and to Piero Ferrari, who was one of the major supporters of the F40 Le Mans project The story is also told by the creators of that Ferrari Doctor. The book also includes the last interview with engineer Materazzi, who passed away just before publication.
Also included is the F40's involvement in racing, including its return to the GT Championship, one-make championships, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. |
