1/72 Even if you're not a Ferrari fan, you've surely heard the name Francesco Baracca.
He is the origin of the legend of the Black Prancing Horse, shooting down rivals on circuits around the world in his bright red Ferrari F1.
In 1916, in the midst of World War I, he piloted his beloved Nieuport to the battlefield. He quickly rose to the ranks of ace pilot, and as proof of this, he had his personal insignia, the Cavallino Rampante, and the Black Prancing Horse painted on the exterior of his beloved Nieuport 17.
The SPAD S.XIII was Baracca's signature aircraft from the time he rose to fame as an ace pilot, and his planes bore the famous "Prancing Horse" emblem. This later became the origin of the Ferrari logo.
